Your private chauffeur between Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) and Lille
About your trip between CDG and Lille
The CDG–Lille transfer provides a direct connection from Charles de Gaulle Airport to central Lille, with no vehicle change or connection to arrange after landing. This service is suitable for travelers arriving on an international flight, as well as families, groups, and business travelers who want to reach their hotel, office, event venue, or either of Lille’s two main train stations quickly.
The driving distance is approximately 197 kilometers. Under normal traffic conditions, the journey generally takes around two hours, but this is only an estimate and depends on the arrival time, traffic around the Roissy airport complex, conditions on the A1 highway, and access to central Lille. After a long flight or when catching a connecting train, it is best to allow sufficient extra time.
A route primarily heading north
From Charles de Gaulle Airport, the route usually joins the highway corridor toward Saint-Denis and then Lille. The A1 highway is the main route between the Paris region and the Lille metropolitan area. It passes through the areas of Senlis, Compiègne, and Arras before approaching Lille. Depending on the drop-off point and traffic conditions, the route may then use the metropolitan area’s urban access roads or be adapted to reach an address near Villeneuve-d’Ascq, La Madeleine, Marcq-en-Barœul, Roubaix, or Tourcoing.
The most sensitive parts of the journey are often leaving the airport and approaching Lille. CDG is a large airport complex made up of several terminals and access areas. Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport has Terminals 1, 2, and 3, along with internal connections between the different areas. The terminal listed on the flight reservation is therefore important information for organizing the transfer pickup or drop-off.
Preparing for pickup at CDG
For an airport transfer, the useful details are the flight number, arrival terminal, scheduled arrival time, and exact destination in Lille. Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are not located in the same group of buildings. Travelers arriving at Terminal 2 should also check the relevant sub-area, such as 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E, 2F, or 2G. This information makes it easier to find your way out of the baggage claim area and avoids confusing the arrival terminal with the airport’s TGV train station.
The Charles de Gaulle Airport 2 TGV station is located in the Terminal 2 area. It has dedicated access to high-speed trains, the RER, and internal airport shuttles. It can be a useful landmark for connecting travelers, but it does not replace precise identification of the arrival terminal. If you need to change terminals, the CDGVAL and airport shuttles may be necessary before reaching the pickup area.
Arrival in the Lille metropolitan area
As you approach Lille, traffic may vary depending on the time, roadwork, events, and traffic volume on the metropolitan area’s expressways. An address in Vieux-Lille or around the Grand’Place may require a different approach from a drop-off at Lille-Europe, Lille-Flandres, Lille Grand Palais, or in an outlying neighborhood. For the historic, cobblestone streets of Vieux-Lille, it is helpful to provide the hotel or meeting location’s full address so the most suitable access route can be identified.
If your final destination is a train station, clearly specify whether it is Lille-Flandres or Lille-Europe. These two rail hubs are close to the city center, but they are not the same building. This information is particularly important for travelers continuing their journey by train or heading to an appointment near Euralille.

About your trip from Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) to Lille
Getting to Lille from Charles de Gaulle Airport
Lille is a major destination in the Hauts-de-France region, where French, Flemish, and European influences meet. Once you arrive in the metropolitan area, explore the city center around Place du Général-de-Gaulle, commonly known as the Grand’Place. The square is home to several iconic buildings, including the Vieille Bourse, the Opera, and the Théâtre du Nord. It’s a useful landmark for a sightseeing stay or an appointment in the historic center.
Vieux-Lille: historic center and shopping streets
Vieux-Lille is known for its brick facades, colorful stonework, narrow lanes, and stretches of cobblestones. The neighborhood is home to Notre-Dame-de-la-Treille Cathedral, the Hospice Comtesse, and numerous restaurants, shops, and accommodations. Driving access varies from street to street: your hotel or residence may be near a pedestrian street, a cobbled area, or a road with traffic restrictions. It’s best to provide the exact name of the property rather than just the neighborhood.
Euralille and the city’s major hubs
Just minutes from the historic center, Euralille offers a more contemporary side of the city, with offices, shops, hotels, and cultural venues. The area is directly connected to Lille-Europe and Lille-Flandres stations, making it especially convenient for business trips, conferences, and short stays. Lille Grand Palais, the Zénith, and nearby business districts also form an important hub for visitors attending a trade show, concert, or other event.
A city of heritage, culture, and food
Lille’s city center is easy to explore on foot, with routes connecting the Grand’Place, Vieux-Lille, Palais Rihour, and the city’s main landmarks. The Tourist Office highlights the city hall belfry, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as guided tours of the old quarter. The city is also known for its regional specialties, estaminets, and particularly lively cultural scene.
For a longer stay, the metropolitan area also makes it easy to visit Roubaix, Tourcoing, Villeneuve-d’Ascq, and towns along the Deûle River. Your destination neighborhood can shape your plans: choose the historic center for heritage, Euralille for the train stations and business district, or the surrounding metro area for a campus, business park, or specific event.
