The journey connects Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, northeast of the metropolitan area, with Paris-Orly Airport, south of Paris. It follows the Île-de-France road network, and the route depends on the departure terminal, requested drop-off point, and traffic conditions at the time of transfer.

The route may use different roads around Paris, including access roads to CDG, the A1, Francilienne, A86, A6, or A10, depending on conditions. There is therefore no single road route that applies at all times. Accidents, roadworks, local restrictions, and periods of heavy traffic can change the route and significantly extend the journey.

For a departure from Paris-CDG, specify the terminal actually used by your arriving flight. The airport includes Terminal 1, Terminal 3, and the Terminal 2 buildings, including Terminals 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D, 2E, 2F, and 2G. A precise reference such as “Terminal 2E” or “Terminal 1” is preferable to simply stating “CDG.”

After landing, the time available is not limited to the time spent on the road. You may also need to allow for disembarkation, border checks, baggage collection, and walking to the exit point. When the first flight is international or the tickets are booked separately, these steps should be included in the planned buffer.

When arriving at Paris-Orly, check the area you need to reach on your booking, boarding pass, or airline information. Official maps distinguish the Orly 1-2-3 and Orly 4 areas, with different access points and levels depending on the passenger route.

Providing the flight number, departure terminal or area, and the time of your next flight at the same time helps ensure an appropriate drop-off. Simply stating “Orly Airport” may be insufficient when several access points are possible at the airport.

Traffic in the Île-de-France region can change quickly between the north and south of the Paris area. Delays are particularly unpredictable during rush hour, holiday departures, and incidents on major roads. Road travel time should therefore be treated as an estimate and should not, on its own, determine your connection buffer.

For a connection involving two separate tickets, check each airline’s rules regarding check-in, baggage, and the latest required arrival time. The road transfer can connect the two airports, but each passenger remains responsible for allowing enough time for their complete air journey.
